    Story

On the 31st May 2018 our world was shook to the core when Brother Nabeel Akhtar unexpectedly passed away at the age of 48. In this time of immense sadness, we sought comfort from the fact that Nabeel left us in the blessed month of Ramadan and was duly laid to rest on Friday 8th June.

During the past weeks we have met with a multitude of family and friends - past and present, from Primary School to University and beyond - each with their own profound story to tell as to how Nabeel had touched their hearts in some way.

Most of you will agree that Nabeel had an unrivalled sense of humour and an amazing ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Allah bestowed upon him an heir of confidence , charm, determination, and charisma. He was the life of the party. He took pleasure from making others smile and laugh. We will remember forever that glint in his eyes as Nabeel shared animated tales of his past experiences. With this, Nabeel also demonstrated a deep passion for helping people, often putting other's interests before his own. It is with these attributes that he was able to help friends, family and those in need and bring joy to many of our lives.

Our memories of Nabeel will live long in our hearts and we will continue to remember him with love and affection. Whether your paths crossed with him when he was that fun loving mischievous kid. dedicated detective with the Metropolitan Police, or compassionate family man and friend, I hope you will agree that it is only right that we try to continue his calling to help people.

For our dearest Nabeel (aka 'Billy', 'Maverick', 'Sonny Crockett', or however you choose to remember him) we would kindly ask you to offer a donation in his memory to help carry on his good deeds. We have chosen Charitable Partner Sharing Wonders so that we may assist them in their wonderful endeavours as they seek to build wells, schools and mosques in Gambia.

We sincerely welcome your donations for such a worthy cause and look forward to updating you in the near future as to progress. May we take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of Nabeel's family for the immense outpouring of love and support.

Works are progressing for 'Nabeel Islamic School'. 140 plus kids will benefit from a better teaching environment in addition to plans for full time teaching with emphasis on Math and English. Recently we have learnt that the kids do not have adequate toilets. Just a hole in the ground. We hope that for those who were not able to donate previously and have since got in touch with us to contribute to this worthy cause in Nabeel's name, we plan to also build a toilet block including 10 year septic tank for girls and boys. Details to follow.

With your amazing donations we have reached agreement with the Sharing Wonders contractor to inshallah commence 4 months work on a renovation school and mosque project in Busumbala, Gambia. 140 kids will potentially benefit from better schooling conditions. In the vicinity there is now a freshwater connection and in the future there are plans to increase the school further to cater for orphans. We also hope to provide a solid foundation with regards to funding of permanent teachers one step at a time.... Thank you. God bless.
