Story
NADA is a public health charity (#1170550) with the aims of:
1. Encouraging more people into athletic sports...
2. ... to improve mental and physical health and social inclusivity.
Lobbying for new, high quality, accessible athletics facilities is one of the things we do. We've been talking to a lot of people in and around Newcastle upon Tyne and have found that there is a strong interest in getting new facilities for athletics to the city for EVERYONE to use. Everyone deserves to be able to access all the health and social benefits of sports.
While there is scope to develop a range of facilities around Newcastle upon Tyne, NADA has an initial aim of renovating the City Stadium site between Shieldfield and Ouseburn. We want to lay down new, international standard, track and field facilities. While North Tyneside, Gateshead and South Tyneside currently have these kind of facilities, Newcastle does not.
In our broad community consultation last year, 91% of respondents said the City Stadium could be improved to better serve the community and 89% believe that new facilities for athletics would benefit the community. We're frankly gob-smacked but also greatly encouraged by those numbers!
We're a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by a handful of dedicated volunteers. We need some help to cover our modest operational costs and volunteer expenses. If you feel you can help us out with a few quid, we'll be extremely grateful!
