    Story

Our beautiful son, Isaac, was born 17 weeks early on 23rd December last year. He was tiny, weighing only 625g. We were lucky enough to spend 2 memorable days with him before he passed away on Christmas day.

Isaac was born at Burnley General hospital where we received care that was second to none. I had previously spent time on numerous wards there due to pregnancy complications and found that the professionals we came across on each department were all absolutely fantastic.

The NICU was particularly memorable for us, where going through the most difficult time in our lives was aided so much by the staff through their compassion and care for us all, including his big sister Amina.

The reason Isaac didn't survive was extreme prematurity, the doctors and nurses did absolutely everything in their power to help both him and us through his time whilst he was with us.

After Isaac passed away, we received a bereavement box which contained things such as teddies to stay with him and us and hand and footprint sets.

We have felt the strong desire to try and give something back to the NICU as a gesture of appreciation for all they did for us, and to hopefully help other families in the future who may have to go through a similar situation. We have therefore set up this page as a way of hopefully raising a bit of money for the unit.

The equipment necessary to keep our son alive for as long as he was able to, along with these boxes, and the fantastic care we all received, all cost money and we would love to able to give a small something back to say thank you. Any amount donated to this cause will be going to something extremely worthwhile and close to our hearts.

We miss our beautiful boy every minute of every day. Nothing compares to the loss of a child. It has, and continues to be a heart wrenching journey for us all. I just hope something positive can come out of this tragedy.

    Thank you all

Ok, this is the last time I'm going to ask. I'm sorry for filling your newsfeeds up so regularly, but it has clearly paid off. The total thus far is beyond anything we could have imagined. I honestly can't thank you enough. Isaac passing away was horrific. Words can't even come close to describing the pain we have been through. This fundraising, while not taking away any of my pain, has been a welcome distraction and something to keep my mind focused away from the sadness. So for all of you that have donated or shared the page, thank you x

So this is the last day of fundraising and I absolutely cannot believe how much we've raised. With money I've been given in cash too, I think we have a really good chance of reaching £2000 which is amazing. After initially hoping to get £200, this amount is unbelievable. I can't thank you all enough. 15 hours to go till the page closes now and I'm just so appreciative of every donation. Any last minute donations are still welcome. Thank you everyone x

I have now reached what should have been my due date for our beautiful Isaac. While it still feels so raw, it strangely also seems like a lifetime ago that we lost him. I am so grateful for all the support we have had from so many people, both through this page and in person. I'm really thankful for all we have raised and have been asked to keep the page open a while longer so we have slightly extended the closing date. Please please continue to read and share and we can hopefully raise a little more in the final days. Thank you all x

I was really sorry to hear of your family's loss Nadia. I know there's absolutely nothing that can be done to bring your baby back, but hopefully the donations will help to support others.
