Story

It is thought that one in two people now get cancer - which is mind blowing. The staff at the day treatment unit, at the cancer and haematology centre, Churchill Hospital, Oxford - have helped me through my cancer journey, the DTU is the place most people will go for their cancer and chemotherapy treatments. The doctors and nurses at the centre are the kindest, happiest most understanding humans, and they help 1000s of individuals of all ages, races and religions during what can be the toughest journey of all time. There are small things not seen as essential on the NHS that can really help the comfort of patients and the efficiency of the staff to do their jobs quickly and effectively. Let us see if we can do our bit to get some money raised to help the DTU, showing CANCER that it’s not going to BEAT US!! The first person I met on the first day of my chemo regime was a nurse called Laura - she is amazing - she helped me have courage through the unknown, to me she was one in a million but she is a part of a large army of amazing staff at the DTU who always have a smile and kind word when you just need it most!
