I am a member of Nairn River Community Council and I am raising money to set up a civic grants fund to enable us to help local community led events and ventures who are facing public funding cuts. This year our community council had our own operational grant cut by 60% by Highland Council so we can no longer afford to give small donations to local events such as the Nairn Games, Xmas lights switch on, as we have in the past. We expect public funding cuts to hit our community even harder in coming years, so your donation will help us provide small grants for local organisations who do good for Nairn. As an additional bonus if you provide your name with your donation your name will go into a draw for two great prizes: 2 tickets for the Monster Music Bash on 15th September at the Nairn British Legion - (a sold out evening of vintage entertainment from local rock and blues musicians) or two ( under 18 ) tickets for Chris Packham (naturalist/TV presenter) 'Pictures from the Edge of the World' at Nairn Book and Arts Festival Sunday 16 September 3pm at Nairn Community and Arts Centre. Both prizes are bargains for a few pounds donation to help local community events. We will announce winning names on here around 10 Sept although fundraising will remain open till 19 Sept
