We are a group of third year Creative Event Management students at the Arts University Bournemouth and we are looking for funding to produce our Final Major Project - Signals.

This event will be a pop up exhibition with immersive performances exploring consent, sexual assault and the positive and negative sides of sex.

The main goal of our project is to open up a dialogue with the community about sex, sexual assault and consent. We hope to break down taboos surrounding these topics to enable young people to speak about their experiences in a safe space without the shame and judgement that is often associated with these issues. We want to take action and address the grey area surrounding the issues of sex and consent.

'Nearly half a million adults are sexually assaulted each year and approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales alone every year; that's nearly 11 rapes (of adults alone) every hour (Rape Crisis, 2017). These figures need to be addressed. We believe by raising awareness of the grey area surrounding consent, young people will become more aware of how common these issues are and if affected, feel more comfortable discussing them and getting the support they need.

To take this issue on afterwards, we will produce a short film about our event and the issues raised within, with the hope of taking this event further in the future.
