Story

********* We just wanted to jump on here and give you a little update on Nancie’s fundraiser. Having hit our inital target of £12,500 to cover Nancie’s CIMT 4 week therapy programme a few weeks ago it aloud us to get a date booked in straight away so super happy to say this has now been confirmed for 31/01/22 - 25/02/22 and is going to really help with Nancie’s development so we can’t thank you enough for your support. As mentioned below all additonal funds raised above our inital target by your amazing generosity will be put towards funding additonal support & therapies that Nancie will need to further help her development moving forward. Again thank you so much to everyone for your continued support it’s greatly appreciated.*********

**OUR INITIAL TARGET OF £12,500 HAS NOW BEEN MET HOWEVER WE ARE CONTINUING TO RAISE ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO COVER ANY ADDITONAL SUPPORT/THERPY NANCIE WILL NEED TO FURTHER HELP HER DEVELOPMENT, SO ANY FURTHER DONATIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANK YOU**

* Any additional funds riased will cover any additional therapies for Nancie as noted below*

Nancie is our 1 year old daughter who in May 2021 after some developmental issues was diagnosed with right sided Hemiplegia - Cerebral Palsy. The diagnoses was confirmed because a brain scan identified that the blood flow to the middle cerebral artery in Nancie’s brain was restricted and as such that part of her brain has died.

Hemiplegia is a neurological condition. It affects everyone differently but its most obvious result is a varying degree of weakness and lack of control in one side of the body. For Nancie, she suffers with weakness in the right side of her body, she neglects the use of her right hand completely and currently is unable to use both hands for basic daily tasks such as playing and eating - currently she is unable to crawl, stand or walk.

Thankfully in the first years, babies brains are very adept at creating new ways to learn new skills. However, early intervention is key and therapy is the best treatment.

To enable Nancie to reach her full potential and do the things children of her age can currently do such as play with both hands, eat with both hands, stand walk or crawl the following therapy has been suggested as beneficial to her and as a family, if we can even give her a small chance of improvement it would mean the world to us.

CIMT Therapy [Constraint-induced movement therapy]:

A 4 week intensive therapy programme which unfortunately is not offered via the NHS and needs to be funded privately.

In addition to the above, Nancie currently benefits from NHS Physio, NHS Occupational therapy and Hydrotherapy that we fund privately.

Any funds raised will cover the cost of Nancie’s CIMT therapy for a month and accommodation for a month for the three of us whilst we stay away from home. In addition it will help us as a family fund the ongoing private therapies that Nancie currently benefits from and any additional therapies recommended.

A proportion of funds raised will be donated to SNAPS (Special Needs and Parent Support) which is a Leeds based charity who offers support to children with varying disabilities and their parents alike. This is a charity so very close to our hearts who currently offer us a lot of help and support for Nancie and will continue to do so throughout her life.
