My name is Nandi Jola, I am from South Africa,I am a writer and an Activist. I am currently living in Northern Ireland, however I come from South Africa in the Eastern Cape.

I have been facilitating cultural awareness workshops in Northern Ireland for the past 5 yrs and have published my work on platforms such as FourxFour poetry journal and a Short story in the Incubator journal.

I published my poetry collection in 2013 at the South African High Commission in London, and I am currently chairperson for Amnesty International Craigavon Group and sit in the Black Asian Ethnic Minority Committee at Unite the Union.

I write blogs on my website and have given numerous interviews to newspaper and television.

My aim for this appeal is revitalising the culture of reading in the Eastern Cape through different literary&literature programmes like

1.Cream of Literature -This is a school drive initiative aimed at affording Mandela Bay (South Africa)schools a chance to learn about Creative writing.We make the programme exciting and beneficial by inviting experts in literature so as to help share variety of useful knowledge,develop writer skills,inspire booklovers helping them to more equipped writers & mentor them in running sustainable book clubs.

These Cream of literature initiatives will go on to motivate Prisoners thru Storytelling,letter writing,poetry inspirational workshops etc

For Children we will be doing Mandela Bay Childrens Festival where we will be celebrating the talent that out children have particularly thru debate,spoken word,drama,theatre ,spelling bee, arts and crafts etc

All the above mentioned programmes will form part of Eastern Cape Book Festival.
