Story

The aim of the prize is to: Recognise and reward Nastiness in art and activism

Prizes:

Highly Commended awards for 25 artists

Artist residency (for 4th runner up)

Cash prizes and opportunities to show work in UK, USA & Amsterdam (for 3 finalists)

Judging panel: 12 Artists, curators, gallerists & activists from around the world

Entry Fee: £12

Payable here! As we want the prize to be as accessible and open as possible we have a limited number of entries available for £5. If you wish to apply for one of these please contact nastywomenartprize@gmail.com with the heading “£5 fee” and a statement (50 words max) about why you are applying for the reduced price fee.

Money from prize entrance fees will be used to fund the cash prizes for the winning entry and two runner ups (40%), cover admin costs of running the prize incurred by the NWAP team (25%), towards refreshments, promotion etc. of the awards ceremony and final exhibition (25%) and donations to Planned Parenthood (10%). Expenses will be detailed on the Nasty Women International Art Prize 2018 “Just Giving” page in order to keep finances transparent.

As the prize is self-funding (apart from sponsorship of a small amount from Orbis) we don’t yet know how much we will be able to offer for the final cash prizes - the more people who enter the higher the prize money will be!

Entries will not be considered submitted until we have received all elements listed in the “Submissions” section of the Nasty Women Art Prize website AND the entrants fee via Just Giving, so please ensure donations are not anonymous and that the names are the same on submissions and associated donations!

We want to say a huge thank you to all the amazing people who are supporting this new Nasty adventure! Please be aware that the Nasty Women Art Prize (as with all Nasty Women events) is a DIY event- it is completely volunteer run and self-funding. It exists to celebrate, reward and raise the profile of Nasty artists and activists around the world and to raise money for Planned Parenthood. This is not a commercial venture and everyone involved including all gallerists, judges, etc. are giving their time on a completely voluntary basis, because they support and love the movement!
