I've raised £600 to Raise money for me to walk the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in aid of and promoting GirlGuiding. The money includes a donation to GirlGuiding.

GirlGuiding is a charity that does it's best to help girls develop, have adventures, make friends, become more confident and generally grow into confident and very capable young women. However there are not enough Leaders volunteering and this means we can't accept every girl who wants to take part as we are only allowed so many girls per adult, therefore more adults, more girls and maybe more units.
I have been in GirlGuiding since I was 7 yrs old and it has had such a huge impact on my life. I have wonderful memories of being a Brownie and Guide, of going away from home for a weekend, camping, trips, making friends, learning new skills. I want to give the girls of today those memories. So I volunteer as both a Rainbow (5-7 yrs) and Brownie (7-10 yrs) unit leader. But I am struggling to find enough helpers that will allow me to help create those memories, relying on occasional/young helpers and parents for my ratios. And my problem is a mirror of what is happening all over the United Kingdom. We need more volunteers.
GirlGuiding also support many charities and projects abroad, but very little is known about these outside of GirlGuiding itself. I want to promote GirlGuiding and inspire people to volunteer. I also want to inspire the girls themselves, to let them know that they really are capable of anything and that age and gender are not something that should hold them back. Therefore through GirlGuiding I am going to walk the Inca Trail in October 2019 up to Machu Picchu. I have to raise a good deal of money to cover my expenses, but also half of the collected money will go towards GirlGuding allowing us to continue to provide girls with new memories. I have only put up a small part of my overall financial goal on here as I will also be doing plenty of local Fundraising to help me get to Peru and back. This is a challenge I am willing (and nervous) to take on, but I want to help girls continue to have a safe space where they feel comfortable and confident. To inspire them to have their own fantastic adventures throughout their lives.
The photo is of me with one of my Rainbows mascots and one of our Brownie mascots. I am so dedicated to the units that I take the mascots on holiday with me!
