Story
On the third Saturday in November, the locals of Ambleside and visitors alike parade through the town at dusk, carrying hundreds of paper lanterns. Young and old turn out to witness this magical festive procession, as traffic is halted and Christmas street lights throughout the town centre are switched on by Santa Claus and his magic dust! The procession is then followed by a spectacular firework display.
This cherished event is run and organised by a dedicated team of local volunteers who begin planning each year’s celebration in the spring. It takes many hours of careful planning and organisation to ensure that everything goes off without a hitch.
This wonderful event is entirely funded by donations from local businesses and kind folk like you. With the increasing costs associated with putting on such a beloved occasion, every penny truly counts.
We have created this page to help facilitate online donations for this year’s Ambleside Community Christmas lights on the 15th November. Our target amount is £1,000 GBP, which will directly contribute to making this event possible. We invite you to join us in spreading joy and light during this festive season by supporting our cause.
