Story

For those of you who know me know my elder sister Nina is blind and following her complete sight loss she she developed CBS (Charles Bonnet Syndrome). Nina is the strongest woman I know, she has had challenges with her sight since she was toddling around as a 2 year old but has also tackled every challenged head on, armed with information to do so.

Taking on the challenges of CBS was no different and she wasn't going to let this stop her being the sassy, confident person she is!. Nina and the family soon realised this wasn't going to be easy, not through lack of enthusiasm and Nina's natural strong will!. Nina soon put strides in motion as this just simply wasn't good enough, even within the Ophthalmology sector this condition isn't well know - even with over 600,000 blind & visually impaired people developing the condition.

During a conversation with a close colleague Peter Johnson he shared with me that understanding Nina's journey and being made aware of CBS that he realised that his mum must have unfortunately suffered with the same condition towards the end of her life. It was during this conversation that we decided we wanted to help raise the awareness of CBS so with Pete's love for cycling we decided we'd do a sponsored cycle ride from Manchester to Liverpool!.
