    Story

    In July-August 2018 I will be volunteering with Think Pacific Foundation (1162190), a registered charity dedicated to creating sustainable impact within Fiji since 2009. In partnership with the Fijian government they really are doing an amazing job at improving the lives of the 75% of children living below the poverty line in Fiji today.

    During July 2018 I will be travelling with the Think Pacific charity and 19 other volunteers for one month living in the heart of a rural village and volunteering in a local school, giving these children the opportunities they deserve. This will include teaching in the schools helping the children to read and write. We will also be getting involved with a huge variety of sports activities, as the schools do not have a recognised PE curriculum.

    Rural Fiji does not have access to many of the things that we take for granted, with less than 50% of the population having access to proper sanitation and fresh water. There is also limited access to education and even those who can attend school, it lacks basic resources.

    Your funding will be used directly to support the children in Fiji by supplying resources, helping to re-build and equip schools alongside supporting long term educational initiatives for children and local teachers. It will also go towards me being able to volunteer with the Think Pacific project, and beginning my journey to Fiji.

    Think Pacific, despite being a small charity, has already achieved so much;

    -Supported 20,000+ students

    -Created a 600% increase in sports

    -Created a 40% increase in literacy

    -Trained 40+ teachers each year

    Although I will experience tough and challenging conditions, I can't wait to get personally involved and make a diffference to the lives of the Fijian children, while immersing myself in a completely different culture to the one we take for granted so often.

    Thank you so much for reading, I would really appreciate any donations at all and it really does have a significant impact on the lives of these children!!

    Here's a little video if you want to know more:

    Quick note to add- I'm also hoping to run a load of different fundraising events, pub quizzes, cake sales etc so keep your eyes peeled for that soon!
