Story

This is Nelly the little girl we are shaving our heads for; she is 7 years old and loves Football, Toys, Games, Princesses and pretty much everything any little girl loves. Last year, little Nelly fell ill suddenly and was diagnosed with Leukemia. She got very ill very quickly, and we were worried she was not going to make it through. She had to have a feeding tube put in, she lost dramatic amounts of weight and no longer seemed the happy bubbly little girl she was just weeks before. Her body reacted badly to the chemotherapy, which is so harsh on children’s bodies. She was covered in rashes and ulcers that even coated her mouth preventing her from eating and causing a struggle to speak.

To see Nelly go through that last year was heart-breaking. I have known her since she was only a toddler, and I have so many happy memories of playing football with her on the green, or running around The Wacky Warehouse! To see that loving and care-free innocent girl become almost a shell of herself, was so difficult to comprehend and see. Me and her eldest sister Kelsey cried for hours, but knew we had to be brave and strong to show her she could also be brave too. That is when I decided I needed to do more for her, and jumped out of a plane! We raised money to take her shopping for a new wardrobe and any treat she wanted.

Nelly has continued to fight and proved to us all how strong she truly is. She is still a long way from the end of her battle, but she has also come so far in the first year since her diagnosis. I am so proud of her!

Me and Callum have decided that it is time to once again raise money for Nelly in the hope of giving her a huge treat to mark her first year of battling. She is doing so incredibly well and we hope that everyone will support us in our attempt to make sure she smiles bigger than ever before.

To do this, we will be shaving our heads, in honour of her and every other cancer patient whom has lost their hair. For me, my hair is my identity, it calms me, it helps me hide and cover up, but it is time to be brave and do this for her, the strongest little girl I know. Superheroes do not need hair, just like Nelly, and we want her to know she is far from alone in this battle.

We will be doing this on Sunday April 15th at midday. Every sponsor we will be incredibly grateful for, we are hoping to raise some money to send Nelly to Disneyland Paris, which is the dream she told me she wants most! This is a difficult goal, but even getting some of the way will be worth it. Whether you sponsor £1 or £20, every single penny counts! Let’s work together to give a sick little girl her dream <3

Thank you everyone, Tasha and Callum!
