My name is Natasha Moore and I am a trainee teacher from Edge Hill University. I am in my final year of study on the Early Years Education with QTS* initial teacher training course. An opportunity has arisen for me to experience an overseas educational trip that is being organised by Nursery World, which is a leading publication for the Early Years community. The trip will consist of visiting a variety of specialised pre - schools in both Finland and Sweden, gaining training and lectures from Doctors of Education. The pre – schools identified advocate both forest school learning as well as one offering gender – free learning. The trip is organised by Nursery World predominately, but led by Master Travel, who are study tour specialists. Experiencing the Scandinavian education system and the variety of approaches adopted within their practice would be enormously beneficial to me as a trainee practitioner, as well as my future career. I am highly passionate about outdoor learning and children experiencing the world through first – hand experiences and the wider community in which they live in. Therefore, working in a Scandinavian country is definitely a path I would like to pursue during my career, thus supporting my reasoning further. Until I am able to follow my dream of working abroad where my personal philosophy of education is supported, I aim to delve into schools and early years settings within the UK and promote a nature rich curriculum and the benefits this provides our children.
