we are aiming to raise 3500 for our community centred cafe in Hayle Recreation ground to upgrade our catering facilities and imoriving teh orginal cafe interieor in order to grow with our vision and provision of hospitality care and fun.

Over the last year we have seen the Rec cafe grow from a park kiosk to a well loved community venue.

We are now open all year round providing free meals to many without homes, or issues with benefits(boosted by an organically grown ‘pay it forward ‘ scheme)

We host coffee mornings, board games sessions for the lonely and elderly, we do soup lunches and seasonal community get togethers (ie. A Christmas meal for those alone at Christmas )

We partner with youth agencies on a weekly basis and help provide support and pastoral care as well as feeding young people .

Part of our vision is building this community space into a multi generational, multi demographic venue where all people’s can be together. We have already seen a beautiful growth in community cohesion which has reduced anti social behaviour and already impacted many people’s lives.

Why do we need improved catering facilities?

This past year we hosted numerous community focussed larger events and weekly popular events and our small kitchen couldn’t handle it. We would have to close our kitchen and I’d have a pop up hotdog stall- or else it would be over an hour for some chips !

Our plan is to double the size of our kitchen with 4 large fryers, ovens, pizza oven and prep stations .

This will enable us to cater better for all the events we and others have planned dor the Rec.

We also partner with local schools and colleges for work placements and hope to be able to help train young people in hospitality skills and qualifications.

This bison is bigger than us, it is for the future of the local community, helping it become the best it can be.
