I've raised £3000 to help raise money to pay for living and legal costs for the mother of special needs South African children in the UK.

Shen lives in the UK with her son and daughter. Both have additional needs - Nathan has ASD, ADHD, generalised anxiety, partially deaf and is turning 18, in Feb 2019.
Nathan lives in assisted living with support staff day and night. He is settling and has recently had some other medical concerns which are being assessed and addressed. Shen is on an Ancestry visa, with no recourse to public funds. Nathan is currently being looked after but when he turns 18 he will move to the care of Adult Services and as an adult, his care provision will fall away.
Shen has approached the Home Office with a special application to have Nathan's visa conditions changed, as she cannot care for him at home. Essentially this would leave him destitute. Obviously, this is a very stressful, time consuming and expensive process. The Home Office's response was NO which has forced her to approach many other agencies, including local MPs office, Citizens Advice, immigration consultant and many other, to find legal answers. Apparently this is an unusual and compicated case, so Shen has been advised that she will more than likely need to take on a specialised immigration lawyer. This wont be covered by legal aid is likely to cost a lot. If Shen gets a NO then Shen will approach the Human Rights court in appeal.
This is a very difficult time trying to keep on top.of all the demands. Both children need Shen to attend appointments with them, visiting medical professionals regularly, as well as care and lots of admin that is part of the journey with special needs children. Shen's work hours have just been cut to half day again. This adds huge pressure on this little family. It is extremely overwhelming as a single mother facing all these difficulties, while still having to provide for her family. Bills need paying, food needs buying, travel costs and now the expectant legal bills.
