I've raised £2000 to Run the London marathon and raise money for the National Federation of Parks and Green Spaces

I am running the marathon to raise money for the National Federation of Parks and Green Spaces (NFPGS). For many years I have volunteered, with a small group of dedicated people, to amplify the voice of 'Friends of' and volunteer community groups who work in our wonderful parks and green spaces. We have shouted loudly about the fantastic work achieved by volunteers across the country. Last year, we were victorious in getting the Government to form a Select Committee inquiry into the state of UK parks.
We are now sitting on the Government's Park Action Group, ensuring that the challenges faced by community volunteers are properly understood. The NFPGS is working with many organisations to support and empower communities in their voluntary efforts. We are passionate about parks, working in our local communities and on our own green spaces, whilst bringing attention to the very real challenges felt by volunteer groups.
I'm running the marathon to bring in funds to support our work. The money raised will be used to better improve our network of green space forums, aiding communication between groups and areas and ensuring that the voice of community continues to be heard at Government level.
I am not by nature a 'marathon runner', but I am confident of my success in both training and running this event because of my determination that every piece of public green space, everywhere, should be conserved. Thanks so much for your support - we all really appreciate it.
