Story
Naye Asha is a SEN provision attached to New Horizon school in a small town called Palampur, North India. While India’s SEN systems continue to grow, some smaller villages often struggle to receive the right educational support for children with additional needs.
Ashlea visited Palampur on a recent working holiday and was moved by the dedication of staff wanting & willing to learn more about how to support children with additional needs. Ashlea’s vision is to establish a SEN provision that employs and trains staff to UK SEN standards while offering a safe, open & engaging environment for children with additional needs to learn.
Naye Asha, meaning ‘New Hope’ in Hindi, will be a SEN unit attached to New Horizon school, built by Dr. Padam ‘bobby’ Dev Singh. New Horizon is located in Mansimbal, in small Himalayan town (Palampur) in a state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Dr. Bobby has been slowly building New Horizon school for 11 years himself & with some help from volunteers. The dream of the school is to provide free and quality education and to abolish the divide between poor and rich thus the name New Horizon, where sky meets earth without any boundaries.
Currently, New Horizon school is in the last stages of preparation to open to the town, however, Naye Asha is still mid-way through the building process. By fundraising, we will be able to complete the build, allowing for staff training and the development of a bespoke curriculum to begin!
