Story

We are a local group of sixteen year olds who would like to make a difference in our community and do something that will help us leave a legacy. To do this, we have joined NCS (the national citizen service) to come together and help make a difference to both the community and ourselves. By doing this project we believe that we can learn new social skills that we develop us all into helpful members of society. Figures show, almost three quarters (72%) of NCS graduates feel more confident about getting a job and go on to further support their community. We have done research within our community and found that residential care homes in our area are not always given the attention that they require to make them a relaxing and enjoyable place to spend quality time after a lifetime of work. We feel that it is necessary to show show some love to our older members of society and give back to them after all of their years of local service. Furthering our research, we collectively decided to renovate the gardens in Gresham Lodge, Scunthorpe. We believe that as a community we can make a huge difference to the resedential home and make the days of our friends and family living here more pleasurable. We are hoping to raise a total of £700 so that we can buy flowers, benches and other garden essentials to make the outdoor area a more relaxing social space.
