I've raised £500 to help the Gatehouse Project continue to increase the living standards of those struggling with dementia, and other life/health problems.

We are a group of teenagers partaking in NCS, the National Citizen Service. As part of this programme, we have the opportunity to give back to our community and our group has chosen to raise money and awareness for the Gatehouse Project in Bury St Edmunds; a project that supports those affected by dementia. Dementia is a syndrome associated with an ongoing decline in brain function, that can cause a variety of problems such as: memory loss, lack of judgement, lack of understanding and difficulty carrying out everyday tasks. Dementia affects 1 in 6 people over 80, and according to the Alzheimers society, around 850,000 people in the UK suffer with dementia. Gatehouse provides those suffering with dementia with a chance to interact with others and it allows them to have a better quality of life. We chose to support this charity as it is local and it makes a huge difference to the lives of many in our community.
