I'm raising £10000 to rebuild and secure Middlesbrough Velodrome

Organised by NE Cycling CIC at Middlesbrough Velodrome
Local community

Story

Middlesbrough Velodrome has suffered a devastating break-in, resulting in the theft of a significant number of bikes used for our school and community cycling programmes.

These weren’t race bikes. They were community bikes.

Every week we use these bikes to help children learn to ride, support school cycling sessions, provide opportunities for young people and allow community groups to access cycling regardless of their background or circumstances.

The impact on our small community organisation has been immediate, with sessions already being affected.

But we are determined not to let this setback stop the work we do.

We are launching the Rebuild the Fleet & Secure the Velodrome campaign to help replace the stolen bikes and improve security at the site so we can continue providing opportunities for thousands of people each year.

We would like to:

- Replace our community bike fleet, approximately £5,000. This will help us replace the bikes stolen from our school and community fleet so we can continue delivering sessions.

- Build new secure storage and containers, approximately £2,000. Additional secure storage will protect our bikes and equipment better.

- Add CCTV and security improvements, approximately £1,500. Additional cameras, lighting, alarms and security measures to improve our site security.

- Additional site security upgrades, approximately £1,500. This will include adding additional fencing, locks, security hardware and other improvements around the velodrome.

Total target: £10,000

Every donation, no matter how large or small, will help us continue delivering cycling opportunities across Teesside and the wider North East.

Thank you for helping us rebuild stronger than before.
