Story

The Neighbours Kitchen a Comunity Interest Company ( Reg No 12616598) started on March 23rd 2020 in response to the chaos and confusion caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the first national lockdown. Initially started to feed local residents who were vulnerable and isolating that had fallen through the cracks left by family and carers who were shielding. It quickly became a central hub for community support and redistribution of food and support to other projects and community focussed projects around the county. So far we have cooked and delivered in excess of 20000 free nutritious meals and redistributed an additional 50000 meals and surplus local crops, supermarket donations and fare share deliveries to families, the elderly and those in isolation due to their mental health as well as food banks and other community projects across the county. BUT...

Food is only a sticking plaster. During the second lockdown we have taken on an additional 250 vulnerable adults and children, providing clothing and day to day essentials. However, we have also been mindful of promoting independence and self-responsibility wherever possible by adjusting the level of support. Our community support continues this winter from the Priory Hotel, Auction House and Boars Head in Louth and the Serendipity Asian Fusion in Horncastle, we desperately want this to continue and for the social impact of the Neighbours Kitchen to grow and increase the power through community spirit and connection in a post-pandemic society.
