I've raised £2000 to wards building a new Hope Community Pre School by cycling coast to coast on the trans pennine trail (Hull to Southport) in September

My wife and I met Kobusheshe Vallence three years ago whilst undertaking volunteer work in Uganda. Kobs is an inspirational character, who is self motivated, caring, articulate, and is passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation to have access to an education close to their homes. For Kobs growing up in rural Uganda, life was sometimes tough, attending school meant leaving home at dawn and enduring a two and a half hour walk on dirt tracks, a full day at school and then a repeat walk home. Therefore, Kobs determined to build a school in his local area to improve access to education for future generations.
The current Hope Community Pre-School has been established through Kobs determination and endeavours, however the Ugandan Government has recently changed the requirements for school premises that will inevitably mean having to relocate to a bigger site.
The target figure would begin construction of a new school building that will meet the Governments requirements, now that we have secured the site for the build. This would be a great achievement and an incredible resource for the community.
Having been to the region (and booked to return in October 2017), please believe us when we tell you the Ugandan people, in these remote areas, have so little and yet are generous and warm and to visit the kids in their schools and see their enthusiasm to learn is such a joy. Therefore any donation, big or small, will be used well and appreciated by all, as education (including health and wellbeing) is not always provided in remote areas, such as a Rubuguri, but is so important to help future generations reach their full potential.
Myself and a couple of mates completed a coast to coast (hull to Southport) cycle as a fundraiser at the beginning of September, which was a great success (apart from the weather)
Thank you in anticipation,
Neil and Pam Martin
