Story
A Few years ago I went abroad to china and lost my documents and money, and was stranded 200 miles away from the United Kingdom embassy. I nearly died as I am diabetic and need to eat healthy and can't miss a meal I also have mobility problems 200 miles might as well be 10000, I was eating where I can when I can, I slept in bushes, benches out in the elements as I was in the mountain region and there where bears, snakes anything that could kill you but my main worry was food. I hiked everyday it seemed like never ending, Until I met a guy who was from the UK, and he noticed my plight his name was Stuart but I can't tell you his second name as he wants to remain anonymous but anyway he bought me a fantastic meal and a bed for the night, a warm comfortable bed where I would say I had the best sleep of the whole trip, the very next morning he bought me breakfast and gave me some money for lunch and paid for my train ticket to Hong Kong island where the embassy is. I was so thankful that a complete stranger helped me, because if it wasn't for Stuart then I would of died from diabetic related illness and probably been eaten by bears. It is horrible to think, when I got to the embassy they put me in a hostel for 2 days and issued me with a tempery passport and flew me home. When you sit here knowing that you survived, and knowing there are other people out there in the same boat doesn't matter what country you are from we all feel the same and are too proud to ask for help. What if instead of asking a person shows up and like Stuart and sees you even a conversation is great and just helps you without asking and gets you a few nights in a warm bed and helps to get you home to your country where you know you are safe. Would that be worth donating a couple of coins to help other people? please note I am not asking for travel, money insurance etc.. for myself as I will pay my own expenses. the money is to help the homeless.
