Story
The Story of Fabiana Hererra, in the words of her father Ken:
"During February 2016 Fabiana 13 started having pains just above her left knee. Her mother took her to our local clinic and they said she had arthritis and prescribed medication. One week later things had not improved and the area was getting red and slightly swollen, so the doctor made an appointment with the hospital to admit her. She was in hospital for a month where they took a biopsy, amongst various other tests.
On April 3rd we received the terrible news that she had a severe form of bone cancer normally found in teenagers.
Her first chemo session was on April 19th. In total she had eight sessions of chemo, each lasting three or four days.
Three weeks ago she had a ten and a half hour operation, where they removed approximately 10" of her femur and replaced it with another live bone and over 25 nuts, bolts and strips of metal.
She is now going to physiotherapy twice a week, to build up the strength in her good leg, as she will not be able to walk again for three months.
We are waiting to hear when the chemo will start again, as a precautionary method.
It will take five years for the new bone to totally adhere to the old one."
Unfortunately Fabiana needs further treatment which will cost money that the family simply do not have.
So I have decided that I will try and raise money for Fabiana by doing a sponsored charity event, where I will give up alcohol for 5 weeks starting from 20th October until 24th November. This in itself is a small gesture but it will take a lot of effort for a beer monster like me!!!
All donations will be gratefully accepted and passed on, especially from our Atlantic Associates family.
Thank you
Neill Saunders
