hi all i am desperately trying to raise funds for a new mobility scooter for a dear friend who is disabled.
my friends current mobility scooter has finally packed in after so many years of use. she is on disability benefits but cannot have her benefits put towards a new one on motorbility as just over a year ago, her ex boyfriend left her with a large amount of debt (IN HER NAME) so she is currently struggling to afford anything and cannot even have one on finance. she couldn't prove to the police it wasn't her who started the debts as he signed up to catelogues online in her name and on her address so she basically has no choice but to pay it all.
my friend hates to ask anybody for help as she knows there are lots of people struggling financially. she is terribly embarrassed.
having a scooter is her lifeline. she can't drive and a scooter gets her out of the house when she needs to go shopping, the doctors, hospital appointments etc. she took her old scooter everywhere.
currently my friends daughter who has mental health issues is currently hiring a scooter for her mother from a mobility shop and its costing £40 per week. she has also been selling items trying to save up money for this much needed scooter and i have been donating items for car boot sales.
i feel terrible and cheeky in asking for donations but i was told about this site and thought its worth a try.
if i can just get 1499 people just donating £1 each then that would be amazing.
if i don't reach that target then i can still give any raised money to my friend to put with any other money she has towards a new scooter one day.
the ideal scooter for her is pictured and its also the cheapest one in that size.
