I've raised £500 to Help fund the development of an incredible school and it's students education in the heart of Nepal!

Between October 2016 and May 2017 I spent eight months travelling through Asia, visiting seven countries and travelling over 22,000 miles. During this time I spent three months in Nepal teaching English, I taught three classes grammar, spelling and handwriting. I was amazed at the childrens enthusiasm to learn our language because they understood its importance and how without they would struggle in life. The children there, ranging from the age of 5 - 16, were incredible - each morning they would have to wake up at around five in the morning in the freezing cold to go and help their parents labouring in the fields before school. Many of them would then have to complete a full school day before going home and working for several more hours looking after animals, doing homework and preparing food for that evening. Lots of them will never leave their village, the girls especially but by providing them with money we're giving them the opportunity to go further in life, to have a chance at the things we take for granted - university, travel, employment. My direct link to the school ensures that the money will be spent on the children and their education rather than being caught up in the bureaucracy of corrupt governments and major volunteering companies. Thirty two pounds is enough to buy a note book, pen and pencil each for thirty students, while twenty pounds is enough to buy a poor student a uniform, one pound can buy a student their school lunch and two hundred pounds can put a student through college. I am planning visiting Jana Jyoti Secondary School again in January 2018 because when I left back February I left with tears in my eyes knowing that those children would have to struggle on with poor living standards, no clean water and no access to medical or material help. The only chance these children have in life is their education, which is why every penny counts, the money we raise will go towards whatever the school needs most whether that be books, sports equipment or better school lunches. So please help me raise as much money as possible to give these children the chances we take for granted!
