Story
World Cup 2022 is about to begin. It seems that very few can muster any excitement.
For the past 10 years, the people of Nepal have been central to building the spectacle that has left a football world in 2 minds whether to boycott or enjoy.
Many Nepali workers have been exploited, some have paid with their lives. Some players will head to Qatar reluctantly, many teams have issued statements. The battle with FIFA/Qatar for compensation goes on. I wrote about this for The Blizzard
Please help me channel our collective frustration and anger into doing some good for Nepal.
The end of regular income from overseas employment building the World Cup in Qatar as well as the covid pandemic has hit Nepal hard.
The village of Chandrawati/Mirlung is typical of many poor rural communities where some families can barely afford to send kids to school. This fundraising campaign will help support a local school and provide families with much-needed support through a tough time.
Visit our website at Nepal22 for details
If we meet our target we will allocate funds to the following priority projects
Provide a much-needed daily meal for pupils and staff at the school
Refurbish and equip the classrooms and create a playroom for the youngest pupils, equipped with educational toys and safety mats.
Create a social fund to enable local families to access loans and grants to support them through tough economic times.
These modest aims are priorities local people have told us they would most appreciate. All work and materials will provide employment for local people.
If we exceed our funding target then we will boost the social fund which would enable us to create a microcredit system within the village. Many families would benefit from loans as small as 20 pounds.
Don't boycott the World Cup, support Nepal.
Thank you in advance
