I've raised £500 to improve security and help repair the recent damage caused by vandalism to our Garden Allotment

Last week, Nephra's Garden Allotment was vandalised. Our Head Gardener and Pride of Britain Award finalist, Dena Murphy (aged 89), arrived on Tuesday to find a trail of destruction at the Northfield Road plot in New Moston. Row upon row of onions and courgettes had been pulled up and hurled across the allotment and carrots had been snapped in half. The greenhouse had been broken into and Dena's prized fruit trees had also been damaged, leaving her devastated and very concerned about the next batch of jams, chutneys and other preserves that she makes on behalf of Nephra Good Neighbours. The sale of Dena's produce, ranging from plants for hanging baskets or refills, through to her tasty jams, marmalade and deliciously bottled pears and plums, forms a significant part of our annual income. Every penny she raises goes towards the work we do in the local community and beyond.
