Story
So, Multiple Sclerosis, it's one of those things that we've all heard about but never really knew anything about, let alone understood the condition. I've known more about MS in the last two years after being diagnosed with it while pregnant with my second baby. It was and still is a fair shock and I’ve not a clue on how my MS will unfold in the future. But hey there’s no point in pondering on that.
I feel like I’m one of the lucky ones, My MS is not as bad as some others. This drives me to great guilt for those who are not as fortunate as I am and it has given me the need to give something back while I am able to do so.
For the month of May I am going miles for MS in fact from the 1st of May to the 31st of May I will be running (Yep you read that right, RUNNING!) (AT LEAST) 1 mile a day. For those who know me well, know I would be more likely to be running a bath and I’ve only taken up running in the last month, so this will be somewhat of a challenge. It’s not going to be a challenge compared to the challenge that people suffering with MS face on a daily basis.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition that affects the central nervous systems, causing many physical and neuropsychological problems for sufferers. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40, but MS can affect younger and older people too. The causes of MS are unclear, although it is likely that a combination of genetic and environmental factors play a role.
So I’m raising funds for the South Wales MS research team whose aim is to better characterise the disease and promote the development of novel preventative or recovery-orientated therapeutic strategies. They conduct a combination of investigator-led studies, using a large patient database to facilitate their research, and commercial trials on preventative treatments and repair strategies.
The main areas of interest are: Epidemiology and clinical course Neuroimmunology Prevention of brain damage and clinical disability Promotion of recovery from damage and clinical disability Development of structural and functional neuroimaging for clinical applications
Their work is paramount to helping find out more about MS, the damage it can cause and prevention of brain damage and clinical disability
Please help me raise some money for this amazing cause and help to make a difference.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart, as you are truly helping something wonderful.
