Story
Newbattle Church WW2 is a beautiful old church with a fascinating history, however I always thought that it had a chapter missing from that history, a memorial to those who fell in the Second World War.
Well I’m pleased to say that the Parish has taken the decision to approve a memorial and to begin fundraising for it.
In total the names of 54 men from the Parish have been identified for inclusion on the memorial, a number of them are not commemorated anywhere at present, this will put right that wrong.
The total cost will be approximately £1000 and it's our intention to have the new memorial plaques in place for Remembrance Sunday this year.
Please give what ever you can to preserve the memory of these men who gave their all for the freedom we enjoy today.
Thank you - John Duncan, Newbattle at War
