As the cost of living crisis deepens we read with concern national media reports of the number of kids going hungry and missing out on even receiving presents at Christmas.

We made a few phone calls to local schools and were shocked to discover the number of children affected. In one school alone up to 50% of the kids arrive at school having had no breakfast.

Members of the New Brighton Coastal Community Team and other concerned local residents have decided to try and do something about it.

In the first instance we are going to fundraise to bring some Christmas cheer to as many local children as we can who would otherwise miss out. The fundraising will primarily be through this Just Giving page but we will also be accepting cash donations and gifts of new toys through local shops and businesses. A list of these venues will be posted on social media sites over the next few days.

When Christmas is over we plan to continue our fundraising and hope to provide Breakfast packs to local schools to hand out to kids whom attend having not eaten
