Story

May 2020. We'd be really grateful if you would donate to The Cut during this difficult time. Even a small amount will help us te reopen the doors and welcome you back. Make sure you go to the website and sign up for our e-newsletter to hear the latest news.

April 2020. We have paused funraising activities due to the Corona virus pandemic. The Cut is closed for the time being but we we hope to be able to open our doors again soon. We have raised over £50.000 of our aim of £100.000. Fingers crossed we will have a new sound and light system in place by September. Keep safe and we hope to see you soon at The Cut.

Update on the 13th August 2019: We have now raised nearly £30.000 towards our Home Improvement Appeal 2020, this is almost 1/3 of our total aim of £100.000. We have received £20.000 from The Foyle Foundation, £6.000 from Golden Trust and the rest from private donations. The work has already started and we hope to achieve our goal in the near future.

In 2020 it will be 20 years since a semi-derelict maltings building in Halesworth was bought by a small group of creative community activists and began its transformation into The Cut Arts Centre that we have today. Those 20 years have seen many wonderful productions, events and shows, as well as an increasingly full programme of community-led arts and educational activities. We are proud of what has been achieved but are also aware that after 20 years the building and its facilities are in much need of repair and improvement in order to serve the increasing expectations of 21st Century audiences, participants and performers in an ever more competitive world.

As an urban sized arts centre serving a rural population, our regular income is enough to survive but remains insufficient to provide the additional income needed to carry through our ambitious ‘2020 Vision’ to take us through the next 20 years. We need you – our friends, users, audiences and community partners – to help us achieve a funding target of £100,000. We’ve already started some of this work and you will all be witness to the small and large improvements that are beginning to take shape around the building.
