Every year the Management Trainees at Fortem are given the opportunity to give back to local communities surrounding the areas we live and work.

How it works?
We are separated into three teams, North, Midlands and South. Each team is tasked with developing, organising and delivering a project that will positively benefit the local community, whilst also providing all those involved with an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge.

As Team North, we have decided to work with Newman School, Rotherham. Newman School is a community special school which offers the most amazing support to children and young people with physical disabilities, medical and complex learning needs. The children and young people at the school have a range of issues and combination learning needs including autism, speech, language and communication needs, learning, physical, medical, social emotional, mental health as well as sensory needs.

Teachers and staff at the school do an incredible job to support each and every child and they aim to create an environment that is warm and free from inhibiting pressures yet has the capability to be challenging which in turn provides the best conditions for learning and development.

The challenge itself is the building of a 226m long woodland adventure path around the school perimeter, allowing students access to areas of woodland that were previously inaccessible. The monetary funds raised on this page will be used to further support the school by providing them with additional play equipment and completing minor internal improvements to places such as the children’s wash room.
