    Story

    About Niamh

Niamh Corrigan was one of my dearest friends who sadly lost her life in a tragic accident on 20.12.2015. She was an exceptionally warm and kind person. She was considerate and thoughtful as well as a great laugh and a wonderful friend. Niamh was so loved and is deeply missed by her all that knew her, she brightened so many people’s lives.

Niamh trained to be a midwife and loved babies and children. With this in mind, Goldman Sach's, Niamhs employer at her time of passing have opened the Niamh Corrigan Clinic with Tommys as a lasting memorial to her and the caring generosity she exemplified.

    About Winter Wonderland NI

I am the owner of Perfect Wedding & Events, and as NIamh was one of my best friends I wanted to help raise funds for this great cause. As it is Niamhs favourite time of year Ifigured I would mix business with pleasure and so I created Winter Wonderland NI. County Downs largest Christmas event. An event that celebrates Christmas and full of festive cheer - Just what Niamh would have loved.

    About Tommy's

Tommy’s is dedicated to saving babies’ lives by tackling the things that go wrong in pregnancy and cause a baby to die. The biggest cause of the loss of a baby is miscarriage, potentially affecting as many as one in two women, and it is also the least understood.

This year, Tommy’s is opening Europe’s largest clinical research centre dedicated to the prevention of miscarriage. They aim to reduce the number of miscarriages by 100,000 a year in just five years’ time. This centre will be spread across four sites in London and the Midlands.

Tommy's researchers will seek to understand why miscarriage happens, if it is likely to happen again, how to prevent it, and how to provide appropriate aftercare. What's more, they will provide clinical care to at least 24,000 couples a year, turning what might for them have seemed like the impossible dream of having a baby into a reality.

    The Niamh Corrigan Clinic

The clinic will be a key feature of Tommy's London centre, attended by pregnant women at risk of losing a baby where they will be looked after by research midwives. They will receive specialist care, not available elsewhere, that will significantly increase their chances of having a healthy baby. The clinic will be connected with research projects so every breakthrough can have a meaningful clinical impact and make an immediate difference to pregnancy outcomes.

Ninety percent of women attending Tommy's clinics take a healthy baby home. In fact, at their Scotland centre, the risk of having a stillbirth is eight times higher in women who do not attend their clinic compared with those who do.

Please do give whatever you can to remember our beautiful friend.
