Story

The words 'half marathon' and 'running' are not words you'd typically associate with me. But on 24th September 2017, I will be attempting to run the Robin Hood Half Marathon in Nottingham to raise money and awareness for the Kim Wright Association.

The Kim Wright Association was created by his family following his death in October 2016 at the age of 57 years. Kim had battled with a diagnosis of cancer since January 2014. Kim, from Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, was a very strong, down to earth man with traditional values, a hard worker with a tough love approach and a generous heart. Kim loved all sport. His particular participating sport was football and he played successfully for several local teams into his 40s. Following his love of football Kim sponsored local teams, Rainworth Miners Welfare Football Club and Old Elizabethan’s Football Club.

The Kim Wright Association provides small grants to local young sports teams or individuals with the aim to keep Kim's passion alive. The desired key outcomes of the grants provided are to facilitate local young people in the participation of sporting activities.

Kim and the Wright family are very close to my heart, and I urge all to donate either as little or as much as possible to help this tremendous cause, in memory of a wonderful man. All donations, large and small, will be given to The Kim Wright Association to help local young people in sport.
