Story
My little sister, Lacey, is not only my sister but my best friend. we love to spend time together playing, watching films, going on days out with Mum and Dad and going on holiday.
Lacey is 5 (6 this year) and was diagnosed with Epilepsy at 6 months of age. Since then Lacey has suffered 100s of seizures and has had lots of hopsital stays, including many in HDU.
Even though Lacey has had so many seizures, it doesnt get any easier for us to deal with. The support that we get from the staff in the childrens pediatric epilspey unit at the victoria hopsital is amazing and has helped in both treating Lacey and in helping me understand Laceys condition. My Mum and Dad have said that they have helped them as well and they always know they can phone them for support if they have any questions or worries.
The childrens ward at the victoria hospital has also been amazing in helping my sister and our family. When Lacey gets rushed into hospital in an ambulance she ends up in the ward and the staff take amazing care of her as well as making sure i am ok. I am always really worried when my sister is in hopsital and the staff try to make me feel better and take my mind off of it. They try to help my Mum and Dad as well.
I have decided that i want to raise money for both of these departments this year So i am going to walk 100 miles between now and 26th March which is purple day for epilepsy. I hope i can raise lots of money for them to help other famillies like mine, especially during such a difficult time for them just now as they work so hard during the pandemic.
please donate if you can. Thanks Ruby, Age 9
