    Story

I will be running the Oxford Half Marathon on 8th October to raise money for Light in Africa which is a cause close to my heart as I volunteered for them in Tanzania in 2010. Mama Lynn's story took my breath away and I have been inspired by her completely. Seeing the terrible conditions in some parts of the area made my heart melt and showed just how important their work is. While I was there I witnessed a mother bringing her child to Mama Lynn for her help as she could not give the child the care she needed, she was devastated but clearly wanted the best for her little girl. It was heartbreaking to watch.
The happiness seen in the children living at the homes was glorious, they had food, water, comfortable beds to sleep in, a play area and people who genuinely care about them. They were so pleased to see us and loved all the activities we came up with like sports and singing.
My experience with Light in Africa is one that will stay with me forever and I want to continue to support the efforts of all the volunteers which is why I am running this half marathon to raise money for them.
See http://www.lightinafrica.org/ for more information on their children and work.

So I did my last long run yesterday before the half marathon which is A WEEK TODAY! I am feeling slightly nervous to say the least however I know I am doing it for a good cause and the support I have had so far has been wonderful so thank you so much to everyone who has already sponsored. I won't be sending the money to Light in Africa until a week or so after the race so if anybody is waiting to make sure I actually complete it to sponsor there will be plenty of time to donate to this worthy cause afterwards. :)
