    Story

This page is to help Alan Shaw with his treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Alan is a loving husband, dear friend and full time hedonist.

As a friend of Alan's and a lover of exercise, I am trying to raise money for him and the MS society by doing long distance running.

I have the Liverpool half marathon on April 2nd and the spring 10km on May 7th and will post other dates on here for the future.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition which can affect the brain and/or spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance.
It's a lifelong condition that can sometimes cause serious disability, although it can occasionally be mild. In many cases, it’s possible to treat symptoms. Average life expectancy is slightly reduced for people with MS.
It's estimated that there are more than 100,000 people diagnosed with MS in the UK. - NHS UK

There are 2 main types of MS. Relapsing-remitting and progressive.

Progressive MS symptoms gradually worsen and accumulate over several years, and there are no periods of remission, though people often have periods where their condition appears to stabilise.Unfortunately Alan has this type of MS.

Fortunately Alan has been accepted onto a trial in London that seems to halt the progression of MS for at 5 years by 'resetting' the immune system!!! Further details can be shown through the following links:

Above is how the trial works

Above is the specialist Alan is under and a few of his incredible study papers

Unfortunately travel is not funded to London for Alan so any money raised will go to that. Any money leftover will be donated to the MS society to help other sufferers with MS.
