I've raised £25000 to help replace the East facing roof on St. Nicholas Church at Hengistbury Head in Southbourne

St. Nicholas Church celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2021. Situated on the approach to Hengistbury Head in Southbourne, Bournemouth, this unique building has been part of the local community since 1961. During that time the roof has withstood all the wind, salt spray and rain that comes from being in such an exposed position, but now needs replacing so local residents and visitors to this beautiful part of the Dorset coast can continue to enjoy this building for many decades to come.
As part of the parish celebrations marking the 60th anniversary, we launched a 60 for 60 campaign to help fund the necessary work on the roof. At the end of 2021 we had raised just over £3,000 through our Just Giving page and direct donations, leaving us another £22,000 to find in 2022. Anything you are able to give would be a great help and much appreciated by us all.
As the original roofing panels are no longer manufactured, we are awaiting planning approval from BCP for the proposed alternative solution. The work is becoming more urgent as water damage can now be seen on the inside of the building above the altar.
Thank you to everyone who donated in 2021. At the end of December we had raised over £3,000 through our first Just Giving page and direct donations, leaving us another £22,000 to find in 2022. Donations can still be made through this new page as we focus on seeking support from the local business community to raise sufficient funds to pay for this repair.
Because of the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions our regular church income has fallen significantly so the parish really needs your help to protect this unique local landmark. Anything you can give would be much appreciated and we invite you to watch this page for updates as our project develops in 2022.
