Story
As winter approaches there has been an increase to nearly 9,000 refugees in the camps in Sangatte near Calais including over 800 unaccompanied children. The volunteer warehouses are almost empty.
The two of us will be driving a van from Derby to Sangatte in November to deliver items that have been requested and we would be very grateful for your donations.
We have been in touch with Calaid, a non-profit charity consisting of a group of volunteers collecting urgently needed donations for those living in the Calais refugee camps. Like us, they believe that no person should be without access to basic human rights like shelter and warmth and by collecting donations they can work to improve these conditions.
We have a list of items that can be donated or alternatively if you would like to make a cash donation, you can do that through this Justgiving page.
Thank you very much in advance for all of your support.

8 years agoAnd many, many thanks for all of your cash donations in addition to the 180 or so bags people delivered to the house. We raised £850 which has been sent to the fabulous volunteers at Care4Calais as they struggle with the continuing influx of refugees to the north coast as well as some appalling conditions on the new 'reception centres' across France. We heard of instances where these have been burnt down by the locals, not enough clothing or food provided and in once case a refugee being shot at. So there's still a lot to do! Thanks again xx
