Story

Hello!

Myself and Clarice have decided to take some time away from the NHS and UK Healthcare, to spend a month delivering healthcare services and training in a remote area of Madagascar.

We are going to spend April 2023 in a small town in southern Madagascar called Anakao. We will be working with an Italian NGO called Fanday SOA Health Project.

They are a small organisation who have opened a basic hospital in the town with the support of the Madagascan Government. They are now the providing free healthcare to the local population.

The focus of the charity is to develop a legacy of healthcare provision within the area. Our 'mission' will be principally to provide training to the local healthcare staff. Given our backgrounds (myself an Obstetric and Gynaecology Doctor, Clarice is a Sonographer and Midwife) , we will be providing training in antenatal care, intrapartum care and management of obstetric emergencies as well as obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound. I will also be providing gynaecology clinics.

This justgiving page is to try and help us raise money to allow us to take as much equipment as possible, in order to maximise our impact and leave long lasting improvements in the care available. We have lots of ideas, but our main goal is to provide a combined portable Obstetrics and Gynaecology ultrasound machine.

Any support you can offer would be hugely appreciated, we will be providing messages and photo updates via the justgiving page and social media - so you will be able to see the impact of your donations!

Thankyou for your help and support!
