Story
On 25th November 2018 myself, Clare and Ben embark on a voyage that has been a life long dream for me. We set off from Gran Canaria bound for St Lucia in a sailing boat, a distance of about 3,000 miles across the Atlantic. Whilst many might think this a “jolly”, being at sea for three weeks is not for everyone and I have no idea whether it is for me yet as two days is the most I have done. In addition, for someone who has spent 30 odd years wedded to work and dashing around supporting the ambitions of three children, it will likely be the make or break of me!!! Now I am hoping it will make me but should it break me then I need your support. Given the hardship I will no doubt endure, I thought I would try and raise some money for a very worthy cause.
Madison Haynes is a 15 years old young lady who wants to be able to sail like her younger siblings. However Madison, a member of our sailing club, is severely handicapped and will need a specially adapted boat to enable this to happen. As a the father of three healthy children who love sailing, to see Madison and understand her desire to get out on the water but with no means of doing it herself without very specialised equipment is something I cannot ignore. So I thought I would try and raise money to help buy a converted handicapped sailing boat from my good friends at RS Sailing. I am hoping the money I raise will help purchase the electronic boat control equipment that will be needed to allow Madi to control the boat herself.
Thank you in advance for your support, I hugely appreciate it.
