I've raised £500 to Deliver Emergency Healthcare Education in rural Zambia.

I am cycling over 300km, with over 8000 ft of ascent (at the end of February!!!) across the width of Scotland from Applecross on the West coast to Aberdeen, on the East.
I am taking on this challenge to raise funds for Project Sachibondu.
Located in a remote region of North West Zambia, the Sachibondu health clinic is the only healthcare provision for thousands of people, with some patients travelling up to 300km to access it. To cope with such significant demand the infrastructure is being developed to upgrade this health clinic to a first level hospital.
However, it was recognised that a new building alone was not enough to fulfil the role of a hospital. In 2016 ‘Global Emergency Medicine’ (GEM), a branch of the Emergency Medicine Research Group of Edinburgh (EMERGE) was approached to support the development of this hospital by providing clinical support and training to all health workers. The main training needs were identified as triage, assessment and treatment of critically unwell patients, in addition to improving emergency care systems through quality improvement and audit.
I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer with a small team in March/ April 2020 to help deliver this educational package, building upon the work of NHS professionals in previous visits.

Any donations would be much appreciated as they will help to ensure this very worthwhile project can continue, enabling more people in rural Zambia to have access to high quality health care.
THANK YOU!
