Story

Durham Constabulary's hard working police dogs provide a huge service to the community during their working years and are retired at around 8-10 years old, just when their needs and care are becoming costly.

Durham Constabulary's benevolent fund - 'Paws Up' - provides financial assistance with the re-homing, welfare and medical needs of these amazing older dogs, to help them receive the very best care, once their service years are over.

In June, we had to say goodbye to our much loved and treasured retired police dog, Mack, who we adopted upon his retirement from the Durham Constabulary dog unit, where he had served as a passive drugs dog. Mack was with us for 8 wonderful years and we are forever grateful to have been lucky enough to be his retirement family. In his memory, we hope to raise a few pounds for Paws Up by running 10K on Sunday 11 October, as part of the 'Four Legs are Faster than Two' virtual race, which is also raising money for the fund.

Ian and I are built for comfort rather than speed, so this will be no small achievement and we really appreciate your support!

These amazing and hard working dogs deserve the very best possible care in their retirement years. Paws Up is a small charity, run completely by serving police officers, voluntarily and in their own time, where every single pound will be seen and appreciated. Please help us to raise as much as possible to donate to the fund!
