Story

This year I wasn't going to do any fundraising. I wanted to concentrate on giving grants and donations to those we are looking to help. Then we gave out our first grants in quick succession to two very deserving recipients so the challenge is on!!

Most of my fundraising so far has involved running and with each challenge increasing in difficulty I thought perhaps something with a slightly slower pace might be good.... silly me!! So a good friend and I are now signed up for the mighty challenge of walking 100k straight through (I know! No sleep!) I'm not convinced its all going to be nice and flat either, but there we have it, the entry is in and the fundraising has begun so time to pull up the big girl pants and get those hiking boots back on!

For those of you that may not yet know Nicky's Giving Fund - It was set up a couple of years ago in memory of my sister Nicky (who must be laughing her head off at my latest challenge!). Nicky had Fredrich's Ataxia but never let it dampen her ideas of how to live life to the full. She was the most kind and caring person you could hope to meet with an absolutely wicked sense of humour. She would do anything to make others happy and was always supporting one cause or another. In fact this particular challenge brings back good memories as Nicky and I actually did a fundraising walk for Killer Whales, a big passion of Nicky's. It was the first time we had been trusted to go off together on an adventure that wasn't on our own farm (way too many hillarious story to tell about that!) and we completed the walk triumphant, although I'm not sure we ever told Mum and Dad the scrapes we got into along the way.

As a charity in Nicky's memory we are helping young children and adults up to the age of 25 within the Forest of Dean with physical disabilities. We want to make life that little bit easier and help individuals and groups with everything from day to day necessities to hobbies to chasing their dreams in life, anything that can't be offered on the NHS.

We would be so grateful for any support you can help us with as all the money raised goes directly to Nicky's Giving Fund before being passed on to change young lives within our community. Find us at www.nickysgivingfund.com and also on Facebook.

Thank you!

Love,
