    Story

One of my closest friends, Kat Henderson, had a horrible accident on her mountain bike on 6th July 2019 in Morzine. As a result she has been left paralysed from the waist down and is now in a wheelchair.

Kat loved her job as a trauma nurse and every sort of activity and sport that involved being outdoors - she was a talented trail and hill runner, an OCR enthusiast, a super mountain biker and loved climbing too. She just loved outside and having adventures.

The accident has completely changed her life. She is working so hard in the gym and at physio to gain strength in her upper arms and is making phenomenal progress - she is such an inspiration to me.

The thing that she is missing the most is getting outside and having an adventure with her friends - life in a wheelchair is undeniably hard and she is really making the very best of it.

We have done some research and found THE best super duper bike ever - the bowhead bike which has been designed for people who are paralysed but want to still get out and have adventures!

The bike will make such a difference to Kat’s quality of life - we can have many adventures together! I am determined to get this bike ror her - it costs minimum of £15,000 but it is an amazing piece of equipment!

My original plan was to run the Madeira Island Ultra Trail 115 on 25th April - COVID-19 put an end to all that! So my new challenge is an FKT attempt of the Fife Coastal Path which is 117 miles and stretches from Kincardine to Newburgh along the coast. It has a bit of everything...beaches, rocks, sand dunes, fields and even some road!

I am hoping to set the fastest known time on the route and this is without a doubt the biggest undertaking I have every done. I am hoping that everyone will sponsor and support me so that I can get closer to getting Kat her bike!

Kat is the most wonderful and kind person ever with such a zeal for life as everyone who knows her is aware of. She would be the first person to be there for me if this had happened to me so please let me help her by supporting me and sponsoring me for my event!

We raised £4,750 at start of the year which was amazing..so just over £10,000 to go now!

Great effort running through Fife. I hope you raise enough to be able to purchase the bowhead bike for your friend.
