    Story

I am fundraising for a 6 month tree plantation placement in Saint Vincent, supporting climate activists to teach the local community permaculture practice and principles. Money also goes towards building water, compost and bio gas systems........... To put the effort in and raise the money my first challenge is a SPONSORED 100 MILE WALK in wind or rain carrying my accommodation, warmth and food on my back. The walk is supposed to take 8 or 9 days but I will attempt to complete it in under a week! (scroll down↓)

..........Planting more trees is one of the most important things we can do!! Wildlife on the island has already been massively affected by deforestation. More trees and less chemicals means more biodiversity and a happier world................↓↓↓

Saint Vincent is one of the poorest islands in the Caribbean and at risk from climate disaster. Planting more trees helps with soil erosion. This protects people's food, people's economy, and also helps the international balance of the climate. Areas of the Caribbean are in danger of getting wiped of the face of the planet (disasters such as hurricane Irma), hence attention from the international community to improve the environment there........... ↓

The 6 month placement costs £2,200 in total, plus the cost of the flights. If 100 people donate £8.50 for my sponsored walk, I'm almost halfway there. Scheduled to leave the country in November, I don't have much time. £8.50 is the cost of a dinner out.......

The project also focuses on roots culture. Happy people grow happy plants. I have plans for a travelling reggae cafe next summer as I am a Jamican cook - 6 months in the Caribbean and my food should be good! I cannot predict the future but pledge to cook you a banging meal when I'm back if you can help me out.
