Story
Back in April 2017 my mum was admitted to an intensive care unit. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and sepsis. Unfortunately her body was going into shut down. The doctors had to put her on a ventilator, a machine breathed for her.
A week passed, the doctors tried to wake her but she was not responding.
It had become apparent that mum had 4 blood clots in different parts of her brain, we got the devastating news that mum had 4 stokes and they were unsure if she would survive.
Days passed and it became clear that mum was trapped in her body. I would ask mum to squeeze my hand if she could hear me, she did. This was our only way of communicating.
After months of rehabilitation mum was able to communicate by saying yes and no. She finally came off her food tube and learnt how to swallow again.
After nearly half a year in hospital, she came home. I moved in with her to help with her everyday needs and pay her mortgage as she has been left with life long issues which wont allow her to work again.
Although mum is on the mend it doesn't come without great difficulties:
Dysphasia (mum struggles saying what she is thinking),
Lack of Balance,
Depression,
Loss of sensation in her right side,
Weakness in her right side,
Epilepsy- as I write this now, mum is on an ICU unit as she had a bad fit 3 days ago. Unfortunately she required extra medical attention.
I am going to walk up Mount Snowdon and raise as much money as possible to pay the rest of mums mortgage, decorate the house and pay for her medical intervention.
I am a 24 year old woman who wants to save for my own place however, I cant bring myself to put my money towards that until my mum is sorted and all her bills are paid. I am a full time teacher and works hard as does my fiance to try and provide for my mum. I can't tell you how much my mum and I would appricate your help.
Although £1000 isn't enough to pay for all the above, it would be a fantastic start!
Thank you for reading my story!
